The mind destroying box

One day as I was getting into my car about to leave from my house, I turn on the radio. As soon as I turn it on I hear one of the worst songs ever made. The fact that there is no hook, bridge, or real lyrics is the main problem. All they say in the song is the same basic phrase over and over again. When I went to the club, the same song came on. Everyone went crazy. I learned something that night, people really do love some wack songs.

It seems people have been conditioned to love the b.s that comes out now, and the radio is their main way of hearing it. Plus, the radio plays the same 5-10 songs over and over again. There is really not a lot of variety. I remember back in my middle school days there were decent songs that were good and all of them were different. I was actually excited to listen to the radio back in those days. I remember when the whole Jay-Z and Nas beef was going on and they played Ether. In school the next day that's what everyone was talking about. This doesn't happen anymore since it seems radio stations rarely do care what is played. I just hope the radio doesn't get any worse then it already has.

What happened to the standards!?

In recent times, I've noticed that a lot of women are having relationship problems or can't find a man that really treats them the way that they want to be treated in a relationship. My question that I pose is where are the standards? I mean if someone wants to find a great significant other wouldn't they have standards that the other person needs to have. The problem for a person to just lower their standards for relationships, is that they never really seem satisfied by what the person does. It's like a college football coach wanting a player to play the No. 1 slot when he knows he's a true No. 2. Ultimately, you are never truly happy in the relationship.

Now its different if you and someone just want to have fun and nothing serious, but if it starts to get bigger than  someone must ask if this person is someone they really want to be with. It seems I hear all the time that women and men complain about not finding that special someone or dealing with someone who they really don't like. If people had more standards it may cause more people to get their act together. For example, if a man knew that a women he likes wants a sharply dressed, intellectual, and caring man. This may push a man to do better within himself.

One side can not keep on blaming the other side, if this keeps going the problem will never be solved. Another thing that I noticed lately is that some sistas seem to feel incomplete and ugly, when some of these sistas are so pretty inside and outside. So many times I have told sistas that they are beautiful and they didn't believe me. It made me wonder and think what has happened to cause these sistas to have this low-self esteem.

I really just want us as a people to have better women to men relationships, its hard today to see many happy, successful black couples.

Why do bad things happen to good people?

I remember one day chilling in my dorm room, I was listening to a song called "Moment of Truth" by a hip-hop group called Gangstarr (A great group by the way). The rapper Guru said a very potent line "Why do bad things happen to good people?" As the song kept on playing the line continuously was repeated in my head. I really did wonder why does this occur? For instance, I know several great people who have had to deal with too many trails and tribulations in their lives. You would wish for these people that they would get more good luck thrown in their lives.

I' am no exception, there were times in my life where stuff didn't work out the way it should have or I had to deal with unnecessary problems thrown my way. I would work harder and do the things necessary to reap the rewards I deserved, but for some reason all of my hard work would come up too short. As I watched others easily be rewarded for their work knowing deep in my soul that they didn't work half as hard as I did, it would unleash an eternal fire inside of me that made me work even harder than before. I would reflect and wonder did I work hard enough or did I slack when it mattered most. Something in my brain kept on saying keep up the hard work and you will be rewarded soon.

Every time something bad happened I dealt with the situation and made it through becoming stronger and wiser than ever. As I thought more and more about dilemmas in life, I had an epiphany that without bad things happening in life life would be boring. No matter if your a good or bad person, bad things will happen to you. I would be lying if I told everyone that if you are good all your life, then nothing but good could happen. This is just the way life goes, but if one understands this then you won't feel so hopeless when a dilemma comes up.

Understanding this element of life has made my life less stressful than in previous years. Now, if a problem comes up I'm ready to attack and destroy it like a battleship. I now know why bad things happen to good people because the laws of life have no exceptions to any individuals.

No skinny jeans!

Since being in Washington, D.C for college, I have noticed that there is an epidemic of guys wearing skinny jeans. At Pentagon City Mall, I saw a group of teenage boys even walking around with skinny jeans pulled all the way down so that their rear end was showing for the world to see. Not only did I look away in disgust but it saddened me that I saw a future generation of young men dressing in such ugly ways thinking that it was cool. Now I'm not trying to hate on no body's clothing style or preference but there's a problem if the clothes are tighter then a women wearing spandex. What's even worse is that some guys sag when wearing these skinny jeans!! That's as pointless as buying clothes that aren't your size but look great.

There is nothing wrong with wearing clothes that fit, but please don't let them be too tight to the point that you are not able to walk  around comfortably. Plus, most girls that I talk to don't really even find tight clothes on males very attractive. A friend of mine even told me she prefers males to wear baggy clothes over tight clothes!

It seems that tight clothes are a better fit for a women's body. If someone were to compare a male vs. a woman wearing tight clothes, which gender would look better? My prediction would be a women with most people. Why can't more guys find the true clothes that really fit their body type? For example, my real body fit for clothes is an athletic type. Ralph Lauren Polo doesn't really look all that good on me, on the other hand Nautica is a great look on my body. My question that I pose to males, is why can't we just wear clothes that truly fit us. Wearing fitting clothes is not only comfortable, but women like a man that can dress in clothes that fit and look great on him. For all the males out there, lets dress in a much better way in the future.
